Josh Burdett

Owner

Josh first had the idea for RoofHero in 2016, while selling roofs in Northern Virginia. He would go on to run his own roofing company while finishing undergraduate studies. After identifying major inefficencies with the roofing industry, he sought out to become a professional software engineer, with the goal of learning how to build RoofHero. Combining these unique skillsets and experiences, he built the core engine for RoofHero -- allowing homeowners to get an instant online roof estimate and find the single best roofer to serve them. Josh works as a senior machine learning engineer at a fortune 100 tech company, and has held various positions in science and engineering. He holds a BA in Mathematics from Thomas Edison State University and an MS in Computer Science from Georgia Tech.

Ben Burdett

Lead Software Engineer

Ben is a professional software engineer at a Y-combinator backed, silicon valley startup. He primarily leads our front end engineering efforts ensuring our design is world-class, fast, and intuitive for homeowners to use. He also has worked on several critical backend systems, including our contractor portal where contractors can manage roofing inquiry opportunities that come through RoofHero. Ben has known Josh since the 90's (they are brothers). He and Josh also worked together previously at their roofing company in Northern Virginia. Ben holds two bachelors degrees: a BS from Virginia Tech, and a BS in Computer Science from Oregon State University.

Stephen Herold

Director, Client Relations

Stephen is a United States Air Force Combat Controller. For RoofHero, he is our "jack of all trades", assisting with onboarding new contractors and ensuring overall quality control. He serves a critical role in gathering feedback from people that use our web application, assisting in identifying areas for continual improvement and optimization. He and Josh have known each other since 2013, when they were training together in preparation for special operations pipelines. Stephen has deployed all over the world in service of the United States serving as a special operator. He holds a BS in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and is a licensed air traffic controller, master scuba diver, military free fall parachutist, and joint terminal attack controller.

Nate Peeler

Lead Mobile Engineer

Nate is studying for an MBA at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and is a former United States Air Force Special Tactics Officer. Nate built the mobile app for RoofHero pros, and advises on general business strategy. He and Josh have known each other since 2012, where they studied and trained together at the United States Air Force Academy. Nate has deployed all over the world in service of the United States serving as a special operator. He holds a BS in Systems Engineering and is a licensed air traffic controller, master scuba diver, military free fall parachutist, and joint terminal attack controller.
