Quality Roofing at its Finest in Potomac, MD

RoofHero’s premier vetted contractor in the greater DC metro area just completed a beautiful cedar shake roof replacement, along with some high-end dormer finishing touches.  This article will highlight some of the awesome before and after pictures, cover the timeline of the project, and dive into the amazing attention to detail that went into this luxury project.

Homeowners in Potomac, Maryland have a lot of options to choose from when it comes to a roofing contractor.  This homeowner was researching roofers and decided to give RoofHero a try.  RoofHero instantly measures your roof online and provides a 1:1 match with the best contractor in your area.

JJ Bremberg, President of Bremberg Contracting who has over 12 years of experience in roofing, was matched with this homeowner and reached out within minutes of the homeowner finishing RoofHero form.  This was going to be a large project, with the total project value heading into the six figures due to the size and material of the roof.

RoofHero correctly estimated the size of the roof to be 7,669 square feet, as well as approximated the price range for the cedar shake roof replacement correctly.  The roof is also highly complex and fairly steep.  Cedar Shake is one of the most expensive roofing materials and is often reserved for historic or luxury homes.  This home had real cedar shake tiles, and the homeowner worked with JJ to find the best possible material to replace with: Brava synthetic cedar shake tiles.

Look at the “before” pictures below.  Notice some of the cedar shake shingles are displaced, and there is persistent algae damage.  These are both good indications it may be time to replace you roof. Typically in normal climates, a properly installed medium weight cedar shake roof will last around 20 years.  This roof had reached the end of its life.

In Progress & Completed Photos of the Flashing

Here’s an expert application of ice and water shield, alongside custom-bent aluminum flashing to match the chimney.  It takes an expert craftsman to do this right, and it’s important to note that JJ is the one taking these pictures.  Roofing professionals that do it right are constantly on-site, ensuring their crews are adhering to high workmanship standards.

This is what the chimney flashing looked like prior to install.  Notice there was no chimney cricket installed.  A chimney cricket is basically a miniature ridge line to deflect water flow.   On a chimney this wide, this is a sure-culprit for leaks.  In certain states, it is also a code requirement to install the chimney flashing this way.

Here are a few more in-progress photos showing JJ’s crew adhering to solid safety standards, harnessing up on the rather steep 10/12 pitch roof.

Flashing is often one of the overlooked, underworked, or neglected parts of a roofing project.  A lot of roofing companies try to re-use old flashing to save on cost without telling the homeowner.  This highlights JJ’s dedication to doing the right thing, even when the homeowner may not have known that portion of the roof needs to be replaced as well.  On top of that, it adds a beautiful finishing touch to the roof.  The overall curb appeal of the home greatly benefits from doing the little details like this the right way.

JJ was able to complete the entire custom installation from within 2 months of the homeowner visiting RoofHero.  Projects at this level of complexity can often extend 6+ months with average or subpar contractors due to poor project management, or not having the right connections with suppliers.

JJ was able to reduce the expected custom material delivery by more than 50% (from 2 months average, to 3 weeks)!
